Removing scratches from stainless steel sheets

June 1, 2013

Q. I had a problem with stainless steel sheets: after forming the sheets into finished product some scratches are identified on the sheet. I required huge quantity of sheets to form so can anyone suggest how to remove these scratches commercially?

A. Hi Ramesh. As you saw, we have thousands of postings from consumers on the topic of removing scratches from stainless steel appliances. But the laborious method of hand sanding and blending probably isn't practical for your situation. If the forming is simple enough that it is practical to start the finishing over, that's probably the best answer.

Otherwise if you can send more detail and perhaps some pictures, people may have ideas. But I've never heard of any easy, automatic, way of removing scratches while blending into an existing finish. Good luck.
