Rivets for denim

March 30, 2013

Q. Hi - I have a question. I distress denim and stud it. I've been ordering studs from China on EBay. Most studs are rusting. I was going to try to only order nickel to prevent this. I may be able to have my own made, which is the most durable metal to use on fabric that will be washed many times. What do companies like LEVIS use for their rivets?

Thank u, Beth

A. Copper, brass, or bronze rivets would be best.

Do a google search for 'Copper rivets and burrs'. I think brass or bronze would be best overall, but those aren't as easy to locate, or cheap.
Most jeans use brass rivets.
