Electroless Whitening Process for Aluminium
December 15, 2012
Q. Hello, cheers to everyone,
I hope everybody fine, now I come to the point. I search about milky white, off white or ivory color for aluminium. I am working in an anodising company as production engineer, so I am familiar with aluminium electrolytic coloring of aluminium. I also know that there are so many methods for electroless room temperature coloring of Aluminium by dipping for different colors but not white. And also white, off white or ivory color is obtained by powder coating. But it is time and power consuming.
I'm interested in milky white off white or ivory color by electroless dipping method at room temperature. Yes I know that aluminium is white but it is silvery white (slightly grey). So I want to make non-metallic milky white, off white or Ivory color (looking like the non-metallic motor car color) by electroless room temperature dipping method which has good corrosion resistance. Some metallic hydroxide give white color, and also aluminium directly covered in atmosphere but it is matte and look somewhat salty and also irregular surface. So if there is any method for zincate or deoxidised aluminium or alloy whitening please tell me.
I know that nothing is impossible and there are so many smart and brilliant people in metal finishing line. At least one please guide me and also explain chemical composition of bath making. I can't hear, show or read about aluminium whitening method. May be no one needs it but I'm strongly interested in it, so please... please... someone guide me and I'll be greatly thankful to him. Small information I accept as large reward... I hope I get quick and positive response on it. Finally thanks to everybody.

A. Try uspto.gov website (USA patents database) - there you can find at least 2 patents on that subject. Hope it helps and good luck!

Q. Thanks Goran.
But in your mentioned process, some chemicals are fluorine based which is risky for health, isn't it?
Actually I'm looking for environmentally friendly process. So tell me something different. My hope is still alive. Thanks boss.
