ER2209 vs. ER309 Corrosion Resistance Comparison
Q. Our company is having (4) oilfield produced water (briny) tanks fabricated with 2304 Duplex stainless steel. The tank welds will be made with ER2209 electrodes. However, the appurtenances are 316L and will be welded with the ER309 electrode which is acceptable. My question is would it be advisable to cap the internal welds (wettable surfaces) with the ER2209 electrode for added corrosion protection? This is our first experience with Duplex steel for tank fabrication.
Thanks.
