How to remove stains/discolouration after EDM cutting of carbon steel?
Q. Hi,
I am making thin parts (1mm) with carbon steel material via submerged wire edm. The parts come out with staining in places. I clean these off with media blasting which works mostly okay. I am trying to streamline this process (to fully remove the staining via blasting takes quite some time). I was wondering if someone could explain what these marks are exactly and if there was a chemical solution/process that I could also use in conjunction with the media blasting, i.e., media blast the parts and, if necessary. chemically treat them..
many thanks,
