How to preserve coins made out of aluminiumg

Q. I am a Numismatic. India issued coins using the metal aluminium, during the year 1980.

Now I find that my collection of aluminium coins are getting oxidized even though they are kept in plastic pouches and coin holders. Bulk of my aluminium coins are also packed in bags, which are also oxidizing. How to preserve the coins of ALUMINIUM?

A. Any aluminum surface gets oxidized in air. It is to be welcomed as the thin oxide layer protects it from further oxidation. In your case something else is likely to be happening in addition to oxidation. Make sure they are protected from moisture etc.
