Chrome wheels on lawn tractor
Q. A customer is buying a new lawn tractor and wants the wheels chrome plated. The men at the mower shop told him that the brand of mower is buying had produced a limited edition mower with chrome wheels and the grass damaged the chrome in a short time. If this is so, he does not want them plated.
Thanks. David

A. Hi David.
More so than any other finish, chrome plating can range from abysmal to outstanding. I think a really high quality (automotive OEM) chrome plating job could stand up fairly well. But if merely good brightness is required, rather than super brightness, electroless nickel plating would probably be a better choice as it is both exceptionally corrosion resistant and exceptionally wear resistant.
