Jewelry company in Nepal is looking for practical information re goldplating

May 14, 2012

Q. Dear Friends at Finishing.com,

We are a Nepal based company dealing in silver jewelry for the last 39 years. We follow Fair Trade principles and are expecting to get official Fair Trade Certification 12 months from now.

We are interested in developing a line of partially gold plated silver jewelry, and we have currently no experience in this field. There are several small traditional workshops offering gold plating services here in Nepal, but their products are not long lasting.

We would like to develop our own workshop where we can develop silver jewelry with 24 karat gold finishing for which we can give a time period guarantee for the gold plating of minimum one year to our customers.

We do not know where to start in terms of identifying the best process/equipment/chemicals for lasting plating and would love to receive advice on this subject, so your suggestions are welcome, also in regards relevant literature.

RFQ: We would also like to receive recommendations for Indian or Chinese suppliers of electroplating equipment and chemicals.

If advice is very practical and useful to us we do not mind to investigate some quid pro quo for a longer term collaboration for technical advice on the understanding that we are a small company in a third world country.

We are looking forward to any suggestions you may be able to offer to us.

Thanking you,

Marcel F R Bertels
