Teflon Black Coating vs. Black Nickel plating

March 26, 2012

Q. Hello.
There is a project I am involved in to select new finishing for existing nozzle of Foam gun. Target is to change current color to black one. It was suggested to consider two finishing types to achieve mentioned goal:

*black teflon coating
*black nickel plating

Still I miss some critical details of which method will fit best to this part of Foam gun. I mean finishing should facilitate and ensure simple cleaning of solidified foam.

Any insights?

regards

A. Nickel plating is very strong against, but it is expensive and if the product has a complicated shape it may be hard to find a place to actually do black nickel.

Black +3 Chromate is a common treatment for car parts which is more reasonable for price, but less resistant against rust.

"Dip-spin" paint treatments are also good if you really just want the color to be black. Most places can usually do complicated shaped products as well.

A. Could you explain the benefit of having the plating black? Is it for decorative purposes? We do provide nickel and nickel Teflon plating, I'm curious why you specified black.
Thank you,
Sara
