Nickel fluoride disposal?

March 22, 2012

Q. Dear Readers,

We are processing nickel in anhydrous hydrogen fluoride (AHF) medium. Most of the time during shutdown maintenance we could see Nickel fluoride sludge at bottom of the electroplating tank. AHF we are quenching it in Ca(OH)2. But we are unable to find a solution for disposal of Nickel fluoride sludge? Kindly suggest some idea.

pH of sludge: 1
Color: Greenish
Nature: Powdery deposit
Odor: Pungent (due to AHF)

Regards
Vinith
