Sealing polished aluminum against oxidation

March 10, 2012

Q. How do you seal polished aluminum?

What are the actual chemical names to do same?

Thanks in advance

Hi, Angie.

The aluminum can either be anodized or clear coated. Only fairly pure aluminum alloys can be clear anodized though -- do you know what alloy you are working with? Clearcoats range from simple one-part formulations that apply very thin coatings, to two-pack formulations like automotive clear coats.
