Bare spots for CAD Plated Bolts

February 23, 2012

Q. We are seeing bare spots on the shank of our CAD plated bolts. We cannot determine the root cause. Any ideas?

Hi Derek. Root guess is the bolts weren't clean, but nobody can help you with root cause without any info :-)

Are you the purchaser or the plating shop? Have you successfully plated them for years and this just started, or is it a brand new startup of a plating line. Are they blasted or aqueous cleaned. Barrel plated or rack. Cyanide or acid plating. Please tell us everything you know. Thanks!
