Feasibility of doing zinc phosphating at high temperature
February 16, 2012
Q. Hello,
We have a zinc phosphating line, on that line we are using phosphoric acid for derusting.
Current time for derusting is 9.00 min and I want to reduce this time.
We already reduced its concentration limit and we want to reduce our acid consumption.
I have read that by heating phosphoric acid we can reduce the reaction time.
But is it feasible to heat phosphoric acid.
Can you tell me is it also useful method or not.

Dear Mr Patil,
It is quite normal to heat phosphoric acid. You may be able to halve the pickling time by doing so.
