Welding issue on copper metal with dull nickel plating and tin plating

Q. Hi,

We are facing resistance welding problem with Tin plated (Top-coat), Dull nickel plated (under-coat) and copper (base-metal) component.

Is this system good for resistance welding?

Please tell the reason behind this.

My thought is that you have 3 different melting points and with minor differences of temperature you will get a large number of different alloys in the melt zone.

I am sure that it is done somewhere, but I have never heard of welding copper. Braze is common. Solder for lower strength and silver solder for higher strength solder .
