What happens to acid trapped in pipe before galvanizing

December 3, 2011

Dear Sir,

I would like to ask a question regarding the Weep Hole and wear pad which we provide for pipes and welded support pipes for Galvanising. In the future after HDG (HOT DIP GALVANISING) any Acid or Salt will be trapped or remain inside the wear pad or between the welded overlapping surface? Can molten zinc evaporate the trapped Salt and ACID with the specified temp of 450 °C at the time of Galvanising?
If not what kind of precautions we must take prior to HDG Application.
