Is this a diamond ring or costume jewelry?
I found what looks like a damaged diamond ring. The ring is grime looking in color on the outside and gold in color beneath the grime color. It has a round diamond clear to slightly violet gray in color. I laid the diamond across a row of black letters and I could not see the letters thru the diamond. I even took the diamond and scratch a drinking glass with it. Is this ring and diamond real or not?

Hi, Joseph.
It's not an obvious fake or obvious costume jewelry to my untrained eye. I think it's worth taking to a jeweler for a look.
