Coating adhesion promoter for Aluminium substrate
September 29, 2011
Hi,
Reason for adhesion failure of Organic Coating (Epoxy Paint) on Aluminium substrate, when it is exposed in Salt Spray Chamber for 250 Hrs.
How adhesion can be improved for same condition?

As you don't mention what pretreatment prior to painting I presume there is not one. Look up (on Google) chromate pretreatment system for aluminium or evaluate a solvent based primer called wash or etch primer.

Hi,
I would suggest using a chromate conversion coating on the aluminum prior to paint application. Also a phosphoric acid containing wash primer will be helpful. Third, make sure the temperature and humidity are within specification limits when applying the primer.
best regards,

A chromate conversion coating prior to painting should improve your adhesion.
