Accelerated corrosion testing - Can CASS B368 be used on powder painted aluminum to gain info.
We currently powder paint and use ASTM B117 and ASTM D1654 for evaluation. Our current product meets 1000 hr exposure and our market is moving to a 5000 hr criteria. We are considering multiple changes (various aluminum alloys, steels, pretreatment options, primers, paints) which would extend our testing program into an extremely long time period. We are looking for some type of accelerated test that would help us focus on a best case solution and compare between the various alternatives. The purpose is to compare results of the variables only and not to compare results to B117. Once we can determine which of options are better, we will follow up with the B117 testing.
I have searched the forum and cannot determine if there is a reasonable test that is appropriate. Even though CASS ASTM B368 wasn't developed for this purpose, would it help?
