Acid and cyanide copper plating bath problems

September 17, 2011

I am Kartikeya Jain and doing Electroplating, as described below, on small steel pieces using Hangers
1. Ultrasonic cleaning
2. Electrocleaning (anodic)
3. Cyanide copper strike rochelle bath
4. Bright Acid copper plating
5. Bright nickel plating
6. Chromic salt dip for passivation
7. Centrifugal drying

My main problem is cyanide copper strike as the coverage is not uniform on HCD area and LCD area,
Also I would like to know if it is possible to remove iron contamination from acid copper bath
can anyone help me

With cyanide solutions, everything is a trade off. Normally to improve distribution, you would either increase the cyanide and or lower the caustic. Plating takes longer for the same thickness.
