What does DS 925 mean on my silver pendant
Q. Today I found a ring with DS 925. I know what the 925 stands for but can't get any answers on the DS. Could anyone clear this up for me.

A. Hi Travis. Yes, the 925 means 92.5% silver, i.e., sterling silver. Unfortunately "DS" could be the owner's initials or a trademark / maker's mark, of which there are many. For example,
https://www.langantiques.com/university/product-tag/ds/
lists 12 potential makers who use "DS", and there are probably more. If you send a photo, so the style of the DS can be seen, it's possible that some reader might be familiar with it.
Luck & Regards,

Q. I recently purchased a pendant from the mall and was told it was rhodium plated sterling silver...It is shiny like steel and is white in color...does this sound like rhodium? Also on the back it is stamped DS 925...also wondering what that means-any response would be greatly appreciated....Just want to know if it is real silver or not.

A. Hi, Jacob.
The "925" marking means 92.5 percent silver, i.e., sterling silver (assuming it's not fictitiously marked). Yes, it probably has a very thin plating of rhodium on it to deter tarnish.

A. Yes, 925 means 92.5% pure silver or "sterling" silver.
