Chrome plating over Zinc Phosphate
Is it possible to chrome plate a steel part that has a zinc phosphate coating on it? This is a decorative part for the appliance industry. The steel part has a laminate on it before it goes through the stamping process. The issue we have is the parts start to rust after forming under the laminate before chrome plating. If we eliminate the laminate the thought was to add a zinc phosphate and dry lube.

Hi, Tim.
Sorry that I don't quite understand the sequence you described. But phosphating can be done after chrome plating rather than before. This is sometimes done on the inside of chrome plated tubes.
