Definition of a "Lot" for plating process
August 24, 2011
I have a question for definition of "lot" for chemical process
Some customers define it 'All parts of the same part number processed during one shift in the same process line under identical conditions'
My question is that if I have 100 parts to be plated and I have to spilt up 2 (50 parts each time) because of tank size but all parts are processed in same line within 8 hours, are 100 parts considered "1 lot" ?
solutions are analysed periodically and always within control limit.
Sampling plan of lot acceptance test would be different depending on lot definition.

Technically it needs to be listed as two independent lots - something can happen in between the two processes that you may not be able to control or be aware of.

Why don't you ask your customer what definition or parameter he/she will accept?
