What is a "Satin finish"?
Does satin finishing refer to non-directional finishing as we used to call it commercially?

Hi, Roland.
Unfortunately, it is a problem to ask what a satin finish is :-(
First off, it's context dependent. To a nickel plating shop a satin finish is probably a pearlescent finish, very different from their brushed nickel finish; whereas to a worker operating a Timesaver, a satin finish is probably the same thing as a fine brush finish. Secondly, "satin" is a qualitative term; although people would like to know what it means quantitatively, that doesn't work. It's like me asking you how big is a large box or how far is a long distance.
Sorry, to some people a satin finish may mean the same thing as a non-directional finish, whereas others will say absolutely not :-)
