Old European roughness parameter Rz

We are updating an old design which calls for an Rz of 100. The 100 is under the surface roughness symbol proceeded by the letters Rz. I found the definition of Rz but cannot find the units of the number 100. This is a large number for microns.
In another case on the same design the surface roughness symbol has R 25 under the symbol. I cannot find the meaning of "R" or the units of the number.
Please provide information as to the units of the numbers and the meaning of "R".
