Cobalt chloride for addition to Zn/Co plating solution

Can anyone tell us where you can buy cobalt chloride and what price would you expect to pay?
Commercially a solution is available but it seems a bit expensive?

Hi, Colin.

Cobalt chloride would be a "commodity" available from companies that stock them for all sorts of industries. Although perhaps not meeting the strict definition of "commodity chemicals", I'd bet that putting "commodity chemicals" into a search engine will lead you to sources.

But many shops feel that engineering a robust zinc alloy plating solution, and learning enough about it to operate it without outside help, is too big a leap. So most shops continue to buy the process from the major plating process suppliers.

G'day,

Cobalt is expensive, approx 10USD/kilo more compared with Nickel.
