How to Increase Zinc Passivation Life

Dear readers, I am in to surface finishing business, and at present in a mess, kindly help me. I want to give blue -bright finish to the zinc plated components; but at the same time (with the same appearance )I want the enhanced life in salt spray resistance.( similarly black passivated components should also withstand more no of hrs in s.s.test)the process should be devoid of lacquer. Please reply me as soon as possible. Thnx.

Vrishali, at this time I do not feel you can obtain more than maybe 48 hrs. salt spray ( ASTM B117 ). No matter what thickness zinc.

Dear Vrishali, SS hours can be increased only if you use water based lacquers available through GW or other suppliers. Alternatively think about alloy plating. regards.

Dear Vrishali, for enhancing SS life for Blue passivation, you can use trivalent chrome passivation with Top coat.Which will enhance your salt spray life upto 72 hrs.
