Magnesium salts for whiter nickel plating

Dear Sirs

Is it possible to get a whiter finish from the Watts nickel plating bath? We are barrel plating small steel and zinc die cast parts for a customer who is requesting us a whiter nickel finish. Is there a way to get this using our actual nickel bath? We have been told that adding magnesium salts, increasing nickel chloride, boric acid and leveling agent would help, but we prefer the advice of You, the experts.
Thank you very much for your suggestions.

There are many references that confirm that magnesium salts increase the throwing power of Nickel electroplating process.

First dummy out (electrolytically purify out) the apparent zinc contamination and the color will get "whiter".
