Nitriding Problems related to seasonal changes?

I'm not directly over the department that is having the problem, just looking to find answers and help, so there are key things I would probably be missing, but here it goes.

We nitride H-13 steel for the aluminum extrusion industry. We have a Hubert and a fuildized bed. Certain times of the year with seasonal changes we have problems with the nitride taking and penetrating our tooling. It's in the hard cold winter months, spring and fall. Do you have and suggestions, do you know of and consulting groups that specialize in nitride that we could hire to visit and help us out with this problem.

Hi, James.

The manufacturer of the equipment or process should be willing to take a look. The consultants whose support makes the site possible are listed in our Consultants Directory. Good luck.

I doubt that seasonal conditions can affect nitriding, but it may be that the entering parts are cold and a longer time is required to reach temperature.
