Product/service to remove black off of apple butter kettle

I have a 4th generation apple butter kettle that has been blacked by the cooking over wood fires in the many years of making apple butter in years past. I would like the outside clean and shiny once again, but have no idea what product or formula to use to remove this cooked on suet/charcoal. or a service that might do it for me.

Hi, Paul.

Do you know what the kettle is made of? Cast iron?

Slightly off the topic. We used to smear the outside of a pot to be used over a fire with dish washing liquid prior to putting it on the fire. This made subsequent cleaning a lot easier.
If we forgot to do this then soap filled abrasive pan scrubbers and the scrubbing suggesting by the name were required but that was only for a weeks build up of soot.
