Acid degreasing additive for galvanizing process

March 10, 2011

Dear Sir,
I would like to know the significance of adding acid based pickling & degreasing additive to HCl in galvanising process.
process is like this:
Tank 1. HCl + degreasing additive (acidic)
Tank 2. HCl pickling
Tank 3 Rinse
Tank 4 Fluxing
Tank 5 Galvanizing kettle.

What is the benefit of adding degreasing additive in tank 1.

Regards

Are you post fabrication hot dip galv? or continuous strip galv?

If the former, then you need degreaser in each acid tank, and you probably need more than 2 tanks.
