A. Hi, Pavan. The supplier of your rhodium plating solution can probably help you with what operating condition is causing the problem. But thread 42108 addresses the issue in pretty good depth. Good luck.

I plate the rhodium for a year and always add rhodium to maintain the rhodium level by using AMPERE MINUTE. So I do not need to count the Amperes to add rhodium into the bath.
Now I got serious problem about my plating. My rhodium is not white anymore. It's turn to be grey color. Could you please explain to me about this problem and what is the solution?
I afraid that my rhodium is run out. What will be if rhodium run out. What is the result from this plating?
Thanks a lot for your kindness.

Metallic contamination will cause rhodium to plate gray.

Rhodium solution gets easily contaminated with metallics. You can carbon treat your rhodium solution to remove the metallic contamination. Top up your rhodium content after carbon treatment.

Some metallic contaminants can be removed from rhodium solution using potassium ferrocyanide ⇦this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] and filtering but carbon treatment will only remove organic contamination.
