Brass cable glands installed into a cast aluminum enclosure
I am a Hazardous Area Equipment Inspector on a Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessel (in the Oil and Gas Industry).
I doubt the suitability of brass cable glands to aluminum enclosures such as transmitters, floodlights, and junction boxes. Is it preferable to use nickel-plated cable glands or the more expensive stainless steel cable glands?
Your advise would be much appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

Nickel would certainly be better than exposed brass- but over brass nothing else works as well as Bronze (Trimetal) plating particularly in a marine environment.
