Stripping a metal filing cabinet
I have an old filing cabinet painted dark green. I think the paint is water based. I've scrubbed a little and the rust and paint have been removed.
Is there a quick way of stripping the paint and rust off and getting it back to it's original steel finish?
many thanks

Hi, Beverley. There is a good variety of paint strippers available in the hardware store. You should be able to remove most of the rust with vinegar ⇦in bulk on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , although some buffing may be required. It will of course rust instantly if left unprotected. A clear coat can provide minimal corrosion protection for indoor exposure in a controlled environment. Good luck.
