Painting OUTSIDE of cast iron bath tub
Q. This tub in is great shape inside and out--but the outside is white and I want to paint it a vivid color to match the remodel of a bathroom we are doing. How do I simply repaint it and does this require oil based paint and should I top coat it with acrylic or a hard glaze?

A. I could be wrong, but I think that tub repair services use polyurethane based paints.
I would check with a tub restoration company to find out what a "professional" quality job would cost and what type of paint they would use.
Prepping the tub is more difficult than the painting.

Q. I have a claw foot tub and wanted to paint the outside of the tub. It has some rust that I will be sanding off, but what I wanted to know do they make a patina that would give the outside a black antique look to it. What type of paint would you suggest to have a antique look to it?
