Electropolishing tub design
January 18, 2011
Is it better in terms of efficiency to have a lid above the electropolishing tub during electropolishing? In terms of health, most probably, but are there any reasons for most electropolishers to not have one?
Thanks a lot

I would expect most shops use local ventilation to evacuate the fumes. A lid will collect the hydrogen and oxygen gas in what very likely would be an explosive mixture.

Most electropolishers will have a lid for the tank when it is not in operation to keep out dust and dirt and conserve a bit of the heat.
