Immersion Silver Process window
Immersion silver is a PCB surface finish applicable to soldering, press-fit connections, and as a SMD contact surface. The immersion silver protects the underlying copper from oxidation. Exposure to moisture and air contaminants , such as sulfur and chlorine including heat negatively impacts the useful life of the deposit. The impact can range from a slight tarnishing (dis-colouration) of the immersion silver to pads turning completely black.
