Black Chrome okay for Fork Tubes?

December 31, 2010

Hi all,
I'm doing a complete refinish on a Honda VTX 1800. When complete my intent is to have a completely black bike, save the four bright chrome spark plug covers.
Would black chrome hold up to the constant contact with the oil seals on the fork tubes? My concern is the virtually constant rubbing may wear the black chrome off.
I am powder coating most parts and painting others, but some just need a thin durable coating.

Constant rubbing will wear black chrome off.
