Reducing the brittleness of Ni-P electroformed parts
Dear Sir/Madam:
As we know, the hardness of Ni-P electroformed parts improves a lot compared with Ni electroformed parts; however, due to its brittleness, the Ni-P electroforming is very hard to assemble without any damage.
So are there any experts who can give me some advise to decrease brittleness of NI-P electroformed parts?
Or any suggestions to increase hardness of Ni electroformed parts?
Thanks a lot
Jacky

It is difficult to build up a significant thickness of EN to be considered for normal electroforming.
There are a number of additives that will increase the hardness of nickel, such as saccharin, but they greatly increase the internal stress of the deposit. Sodium tungstanate will significantly increase the hardness of nickel, but it costs more and also has a thickness buildup problem with some formulations.
It is possible to electroplate phosphorous in nickel.
