Better jig material for diamond electroplating of grinding wheels
Dear all,
I need information about best jig material for grinding wheel with diamond electroplating.
Currently we use PP or PVC to set grinding wheels (each wheel is separated by PP/PVC). The jigs life time is too short. If the surface of PP/PVC is not smooth, the nickel electrolyte will leak to base material and cause corrosion defect.
Thanks

I am guessing at your jig arrangement. I have used vinyl for some seals (thick, up to 3.8") You may be able to make or have some custom made silicon seals. What I am thinking of is like a pancake with a hole in the center.
I have used Dow 3120 RTV for plugs that I made. You may have to pull short shots of vacuum to expel some of the air bubbles if you mix air into it when you add the catalyst.
I got "drops" (leftover pieces) of vinyl at a cheap price from a manufacturer of tank liners.

I'm not really envisioning what you are doing, but UHMW Polyethylene is far superior in abrasive wear applications compared to PVC or PP.
