Wastewater from zinc plating in nail manufacturing

hello, this is Eng. Ethar-Essa, I'm a Graduate Student
in the civil engineering department... currently I have a project about industrial waste water. I would ask you about wastewater flowrate value from each unit (Cleaning Oil, Removing rust, Electrolysis, Dyeing) as percentage. if we assume that the total flowrate = 51 m3/d. and usually standard to discharge zinc and chrome

Hi, Ethar.

These things would vary depending on local regulations and the specifics of the plating shop. But 51 m3/d would be reasonable for a well managed plating shop with 3 or 4 medium size plating lines. For your project you could probably assume about 1/6 of the water is for rinsing the cleaner, 1/6 for the acid rinse, 1/3 for the zinc plating rinse, and 1/3 for the chromate conversion coating rinse. For a general project, you could probably assume that the discharge limit would be about 2 ppm for zinc and 1 ppm for chrome. Good luck.
