What will slow down the rusting of iron?



hey I need to find an experiment that shows something that stops or slows down the rusting of iron, some people are doing paint and I want to find something else
greatly appreciated

Hi, Ryan. There are endless possibilities, but here are a few:

You can zinc plate the iron per our FAQ "How Electroplating Works".
You can copper plate the iron per the same FAQ.
You can put nail polish on it.
You can put vaseline on it.
You can dip it in melted chocolate.
You can wax it with car wax.
You can wrap it in aluminum foil.
You can wrap it in plastic wrap or scotch tape.
You can find a zinc coin or token or boat anode and drill and hammer an iron nail through it to see if contact with the zinc will protect it.
You can wrap a spiral of copper wire around it to see what happens.
