Is 304 stainless steel the same as 18-8?
Dear sir,
SS304 and SS 18-8 steels are the same or different materials? I have to use 18-8 stainless steel part in a chemical pump. But in indian market SS304 is available. can I use SS304 instead of 18-8.

Hi, Shajin. Type 304 contains 18 percent chromium and 8 percent nickel, so it is an 18-8 stainless steel. But 304 offers fairly minimal corrosion protection for a "chemical" pump.
