Acid Copper Plating for Grinding Wheels
Dear All,
I am still training in abrasive Industry (Grinding Wheel). Currently, We use Copper Cyanide to plate Grinding Wheel material, so that bonding material (diamond synthesis & metal mixture) can be attached on it. Because of environmental issue, We plan to change copper plating from cyanide copper to acid copper. Do you have any suggestion about plating type ?
Thanks & Best regards,

Hi, Nur. I don't know what these wheels are made of, but if they are steel then you cannot acid copper plate them because copper is too electrochemically active and will immersion deposit onto the steel with no adhesion. You would be restricted to copper pyrophosphate plating. But perhaps you can do a nickel flash, followed by the acid copper plating, and then the composite plating? Good luck.
