Increased Platinum plating time - what causes it?
Hi!
We're seeing a great increase in our Pt plating time: from 20 mins to almost 3 hours to put less than 0.5 mg of coating.
What could be the possible reasons? (We're using chloroplatinic acid.)

Hi Romina,
It could due to significant drop in plating efficiency which majority of electrons are used in hydrogen gas formation and/or side reaction rather than reduce platinum ions to metal.
Best regards,

The extra time is due to either insufficient platinum in your solution, faulty or incorrect rectifiers or the platinum being deposited elsewhere. Also check your bath is operating at the correct temperature, as platinum plating can be very susceptible to temperature effects.
