What kind of pre-cleaning operation do we require for steel pipe


Thank so much for your published,I am a newly employed piping engineer ready to do pickling for some lube oil and fuel pipe lines.please could you tell me or advise me how to go about with the pre-cleaning operation before proper pickling and with what substance?

Sir:

Traditionally most steel is immersed in hot caustic soda ⇦liquid caustic soda in bulk on Amazon [affil link] (sodium hydroxide) solution prior to pickling with either room temperature HCl or hot sulfuric acid. Experience is that this is the best pretreatment for most mild steels.
