Hi, Kannan.
There are alternatives to chromic acid, but what they are depends on why you are using the chromic acid. If you are using it for chrome plating, trivalent chrome plating solutions are available as well as some other alloy platings that function much like chrome. If you are using it for anodizing, boric-sulfuric acid anodizing may meet your needs. If you are using it as a cleaning agent, a nitric-acid based oxidizing agents might substitute. If you are using it as a passivation treatment for aluminum, trivalent coatings, silanes, or zirconium treatments might replace it. Please tell us what you are doing with it. Thanks.
Regards,
