Busbar connections [South Africa]
Hi, I need to to connect the busbars on my acid copper tanks, the tanks are 4 meters wide and I think that over the distance there will be a great loss of power if it's not connected in the middle to get the same amps at both v-blocks.
Thanks

Hi, Hennie. The rule of thumb is 1000 Amps / square inch of busbar. If you limit it to that, neither excessive losses nor heat in the busbar will usually be a problem if the connections are good. However, V-blocks do get dirty and oxidized and it is definitely best to bus to both. At the 1000 A/sq. in limit, it should not matter greatly that the connection be in exactly the middle, as long as it's between the two V-blocks.
