Jewelry "immersion plating" question
Hi. I'm looking into plating organic objects with the a silver immersion product discussed on the "silver plating at home" page. I'm a beginning jewelry maker.
My Questions, If I spray the object with, say a copper paint that is made for plating, will I be able to plate these objects with one of these solutions?
A brief rundown of the total process would be truly appreciated.
Thanx much, Bob, New Hampshire

Hi, Bob. The electrochemistry should work: silver should replace copper metal no matter how the copper got there. However, this may not be the best route to silver plating on non-copper objects. You might wish to see another FAQ,
"Plating flowers, leaves, and non-conductive objects" for alternate approaches.
