Dear Sir,
Can you please suggest me the Thickness of Zinc Coating at which it can resist up to 500 hours in salt spray test.

Hi, Raj. There may be no realistic thickness of zinc coating that will reliably resist 500 hours because, for proper corrosion resistance, zinc requires the development of a zinc carbonate patina which will not form in a salt spray cabinet. Requiring the application of salt spray tests where they are inapplicable has resulted in some terrible engineering practices like lacquering a thin plating of zinc and getting better salt spray performance than a thick hot dip galvanized coating, only to have the parts quickly fail in the field in applications where HDG parts had lasted decades :-)
Please put the test aside for a moment and tell us how the parts need to perform in real life. Thanks.
