Recover gold from jewelry polishing dust & sweeps with oven or using thiourea
Q. I Bhupesh Mulik am working as refining officer in jewellery company. I am using sodium cyanide for recovering gold from jewellery polishing dust after aqua regia process. I got around 35 gm gold from 10 kg residue(jewellery polish dust).
But I know that it is poisonous and dangerous. so I want to start thiourea

A. Without incineration, I doubt if direct leaching will be that efficient, no matter what you use. Here is a non-cyanide method that works.

because cyanide is dangerous mainly HCN gas.cyanide affects on hemoglobin.
I had not understand how to give redox potential of 150 mv to 250 mv. to leaching solution? how much % of recovery obtained by thiourea?
I've not started this process yet but I ordered 500 gm thiourea
